Edward's 1st Royals Game

Last weekend,  we took Edward to his 1st Royals game.  We lasted 7 innings! Way more than I thought we would, especially for a 6:30 game.  He woke up the next morning saying, "I need to go to the baseball game* and see the lion*"

* "baseball game" was sometime interchangeable with "golfball game"

* "the lion" being the team mascot Slugger, which was a source of major toddler drama for 5 of the 7 innings

Edward wore his hat! The kid never wears hats, but I think he wanted to be like daddy (also, some neighborhood girls told him he becomes a scary dragon when he wears the hat).

Of course, the dinosaurs made an appearance at The K.

My biggest fear is that a foul ball comes flying at either me or Edward.  I don't trust my reflexes or catching skills with that whole situation.  So of course, I get up to get a snack and a foul ball flies right at where I was sitting, bounces off of the seat behind me and into the hands of the guy sitting next to my seat.  So glad I wasn't there for that.  He gave the ball to Edward! It was such a nice thing to do and Edward has been sleeping with it every night since.  (Edward got a little upset when he tried to throw it back and everyone around him shouted, "noooo!"  Poor guy).

And then there was The Lion Drama.  About the 2nd inning they showed a fun little cartoon montage of some of Slugger's greatest moments.  Edward was captivated.  And then obsessed.  He talked about seeing the lion every 5 seconds until he actually appeared 5 innings later (side-eye Slugger).   Here's a glimpse of his determination:

(pardon my complaining, my phone was acting like it wasn't videoing, but apparently it was)

And here he is, finally happy to see the lion:

And then admiring his own lion that he bought himself with all of the money he earns being cute and persistent.

I believe the Royals won that game, but it doesn't really matter now does it?
